Client setup guide

Remote Support

Download RustDesk, enter the Templeton server settings, and share the ID shown in the app with your technician.

Templeton connection service is online

Step 1

Install RustDesk

Download the official RustDesk application for the computer receiving support. Templeton does not modify the application.

The browser client is listed for completeness but is not currently connected to Templeton’s self-hosted server. For support sessions, use one of the installed applications above.

Step 2

Connect RustDesk to Templeton

Open RustDesk, select the three-dot menu beside your ID, then choose Network. Unlock the settings if asked and enter the values below.

Templeton server configuration Encrypted
ID Server remote.templetongroup.com
Public encryption key OmySHQWh4XryURo33jzpFMEcIRVg4H5V+tEhWmQ07Fc=
Relay ServerLeave blank
API ServerLeave blank
Menu ⋮NetworkUnlockEnter settingsApply

These settings must be present on both the client’s computer and the Templeton technician’s computer. The key above is a public encryption key, not a password.

Step 3

Allow screen access

Your computer will ask for permission before RustDesk can show or control the screen.

On Windows

Allow the connection

Run RustDesk and approve any Windows security prompt. For administrative work, RustDesk may ask to elevate or install its background service.

  • Keep RustDesk open during the session
  • Approve the incoming Templeton connection
  • Allow elevation only when your technician explains why it is needed

Step 4

Start the support session

No RustDesk account is required. The customer shares the ID shown in RustDesk and approves the session.

Customer

  1. Open RustDesk and confirm it says Ready.
  2. Tell the Templeton technician the numeric ID shown on screen.
  3. When the connection request appears, click Accept or provide the one-time password.
  4. Keep RustDesk open until the technician confirms the session is complete.

Templeton technician

  1. Open a Templeton-configured copy of RustDesk.
  2. Enter the customer’s ID in Control Remote Desktop.
  3. Select Connect and wait for customer approval or enter the one-time password.
  4. Disconnect when support is complete and confirm control has ended.
When the session ends Close RustDesk if you do not need continuing access. The temporary password changes automatically.

Optional

Unattended access

For a computer Templeton manages continuously, RustDesk can run in the background and use a permanent password. This is not necessary for ordinary support calls.

Enable only with approval

  • Obtain the client’s explicit approval
  • Use a unique, strong permanent password
  • Install the RustDesk background service
  • Verify access with the client present
  • Remove unattended access when it is no longer needed

Support safety

Only connect during a scheduled Templeton session

Templeton will never ask you to buy gift cards, transfer money, disclose a banking password, or provide a verification code unrelated to your support request. If anything feels unexpected, stop and call us directly at (888) 884-8829.

Quick answers

Before you connect

Do I need a RustDesk account?

No. The free Templeton server uses the ID displayed by the RustDesk application and either customer approval or a session password.

Is this the free open-source version?

Yes. Templeton hosts the open-source RustDesk ID and relay services on infrastructure under our control.

Why do both computers need the server settings?

The customer and technician must register with the same Templeton server before they can find one another securely.

Does visiting this page begin remote access?

No. This page only provides downloads and instructions. A session starts only inside RustDesk after the customer approves it or supplies a password.
